Dear Mike, Again this year I was so impressed by everything about the Long
Island Endurance runs that I had to write and say so. Despite the cool and
soggy start, the day turned out quite pleasant once it stopped raining, and
we had excellent running weather the whole afternoon. It is not a really
tough course as ultra runs go, but the mileage plus conditions on the day
added up to make it quite challenging anyway. Hearty congratulations to
Helma who after coming close many times, finally "kicked my butt" fair and
square! Congratulations also to Tracy, you finally made it happen, and also
to Liz, wow, what a run! Hope you show those arrogant Californians what good
runners New Yorkers are!
My sincerest thanks to all those who kindly gave up their day (and their
comfort) to ensure the success of the runs, especially all those who manned
the aid stations in the rain and cold. Special thanks to Nick, Richie and of
course you, Mike, and also the "special forces" people who worked hard
making it all come together; Bob Sherman, Don Buchin, Mindy and my good
buddy Vinny.
Best wishes to you all, Dave Redman.
