12/22/14 - The Race Results for both
the 30 K and
the 50 K events
have been posted. All runners who completed at least 30K (5 trail loops) were scored in the 30K race, and
those who went on to finish the 50K distance were scored in both races.
Please contact
Richie if you have questions about these results.
12/16/14 - The Race Director has just posted a rough
course map for
the race. This is a fairly complex course, but he promises that all turns will be well marked.
Registration has CLOSED as of 3PM Wed, 12/10.
Thanks to everyone who's registered already, but we have reached our limit for this race, so no additional
registrations can be accepted. Please contact the
Race Director if you have questions about your registration.
Snafus with the Parks Dept (and with a specific Park Manager) have caused
us to relocate this event to the trails and paths of Alley Pond Park.
See more explanation here.
*** Final course details and directions to the start available here ***.
**NEW (as of 12/5/2014)**
Latest info from Race Director:
- The
Trail Mix-up will still be on December 21st and still
will start at 9:00 AM.
- The
event will start at the Alley Picnic (a.k.a. Alley Adventure) area
of Alley Pond Park, not by the Tennis House as previous
BUS ultras. The Picnic/Adventure location is situated on a hill overlooking
the tennis area, and access there is still from Winchester Blvd.
- A
new information sheet will be e-mailed to you with new details; e.g.
directions... or click button below.
- Alley
Pond can also be accessed by mass transit by a short LIRR ride from
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Woodside and Jamaica to the Queens Village Station.
A volunteer transport will then take you to the race site (train arrives
about 8:14am).
- The
race course will still include two separate course loops.
- The
first loop will be about 3¾ miles on a combination
of paved footpaths and trail terrain in "woodsy" surroundings.
- You
will run five (5) of these loops to complete 30 kilometers.
- Each
participant will then receive an official time and place for the 30K.
- You
will be able to continue (if you wish) to complete 50 kilometers.
The remaining 20K will be seven (7) 1¾-mile loops on rolling paved
paths.
- We are distributing ski caps with the BUS logo to all runners... and
awards to all finishers.

Initial information from the
Race Director (Richie):
The Broadway Ultra Society (BUS) plans to coordinate a low-key 50-kilometer
ultra with corresponding 30K run in Forest
Park on Sunday, December 21st. Some features of the race include:
- The event will be run on two separate courses. All entrants will run a 30K section on a trail loop, with
50Ker's finishing with a final 20K section on a road loop.
- All runners who finish the first 30K will be scored (and awarded) for that race. You do NOT
need to declare the 50K distance at the start... just keep going.
- Although the course loops have been mapped and measured, race day
weather and vagaries of the Parks Dept. may require some last minute changes.
- The Entry fee will be an economical $25 for all registrations by Thursday, Dec 18th. Late and post
entries will cost $5 more.
- Fee-free on-line registration at
UltraSignup.com available on Tuesday, 10/28.
- BUS stocking cap to all runners.
- Enclosed shelter near the start/finish.
- This event is open to all runners, not just BUS members, but PLEASE register early to help us in planning.
